Institute of Public Administration and Management

The SDO works very closely with the recently launched IPAM, Institute of Public Administration and Management at the University of Malta. Currently a number of public officers are reading for the Diploma in Public Administration and will graduate in November 2006.

Objectives and functions of the Institute:

The Institute plans to foster the practice and study of administration and management in the public sector and, for this purpose, shall:

1.    conduct courses of study, including certificate, diploma and degree courses in public administration, subject to the regulations and policies of the University;

2.    organise public lectures and conferences;

3.    carry out research on its own initiative, or at request of third parties, into public administration and management;

4.    carry out ongoing evaluation of the effects of public policy on society; and

5.    publish reports, books, papers and journals.

The Chairman of IPAM is Dr. Godwin Grima, Principal Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister. Dr Edward Warrington is the current Director of IPAM.
